Croydon Man Terrorizes, Beats & Strangles Woman in Separate Attacks
A Croydon man was jailed earlier this week for attacking a woman on two separate occasions in the last six weeks and terrorizing her.
Thomas I. Hughes 33, of Bristol Township sits in Bucks County Correctional Facility accused of strangulation, simple assault and harassment in one case, and accused of simple assault and harassment, in a second case originally filed against him in June.
According to the probable cause affidavit for the June 10 incident, police were dispatched to the 800 block of Bristol Pike for a reported domestic related incident.
Upon arrival police interviewed the victim, who told them Hughes attacked her by puling her hair and dragging her backwards, kneeing her in the face, and punching her on the side of the head, officers wrote in court records.
Police noted bruising to the victims left eye in court paperwork.
The victim also told police, Hughes, filled a laundry detergent container and used it to bash her in the head with, legal records show.
For the second incident, police were called back to the same Croydon address on July 17 just before 8 pm for a reported assault call. Police had the victim transported to a local medical facility upon observing bruising on her forehead before interviewing her.
While at the hospital, the victim told police, tshe and Hughes got into an argument while driving in a car. The victim pulled over, parked the vehicle, and fled on foot from the area to her residence, court records show.
According to police, Hughes quickly followed behind locating the victim laying on her bed which is in the corner of the room, and the suspect proceeded to grab her by the neck and strangler her followed by slamming the victim’s head into the corner wall.
The victim, said police, in an effort to protect herself went to a corner of the bed and pulled a blanket over her head,
“The defendant then began to act irrationally” and screamed at the victim “Look at Me!” which followed him punching her in the head, police said.
Earlier this week, Bristol Township Police issued two arrest warrants for Hughes for his attacks on the victim and was picked up hours later on the warrants by police.
Hughes is scheduled to appear on September 1 in Bristol Borough District Court to answer to the charges in both cases.
