A Bristol Township man with a New Jersey murder conviction was arrested and jailed in a undercover drug sting using a confidential informant in Bristol Township.
James Leroy Baxter Jr., 63, was taken into custody Monday by Bristol Township Police, with District Judge Kevin P. Wagner arraigning him on three felony counts of crack cocaine distribution offenses and remanding him to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $500,000.00.
Between April 23, 2025, and July 28, 2025, Bristol Township Police conducted an investigation involving the alleged sales of crack cocaine by Baxter Jr. utilizing a confidential informant, police said.
According to the probable cause, during this investigation, the confidential informant (C.I.) met with investigators on at least three separate occasions. Each time, the C.I. was searched and was free of drugs, drug paraphernalia and money, according to court papers. The C.I., according to police was issued pre-recorded U.S. currency to purchase crack cocaine. The C.I. called a phone number ending in 8874 to arrange a meeting location for crack cocaine purchase. After each phone call, Baxter arrived in the 1500 block of Lakeland Avenue, in Bristol, said police.
After Baxter Jr. arrived at the meeting location, he met with the confidential informant. After the meeting, the confidential informant turned over crack cocaine purchased from Baxter. The C.I. was again searched and found free of drugs, drug paraphernalia and money, said police in the criminal complaint.
During each of the controlled purchases, the confidential informant remained in continuous view of investigators and Baxter was the only person that the confidential informant had contact with, according to court records.
Tipsters for this story told the publication that “FBI agents” along with township police swooped in to execute Baxter Jr’s arrest. Federal authorities declined to confirm and deny if they had a role in the arrest on Wednesday.
