The demolition of Hotel in the Bristol Township section of Levittown often referred to as “Hotel Hell” by locals launched last week.
Demo trucks and crews rolled onto the now former location of the Hammock Inn Hotel last week, with bulldozing launching in earnest.
The hotel was often identified as a trouble spot by township officials concerned with public safety. Locals and businesses in recent years alleged drug distribution and prostitution were common activities at the Hotel located at 6201 Bristol Pike.
The site will be transformed into warehouse space and create both short-term construction jobs and permanent jobs in the area.
The property has been rezoned as heavy manufacturing, paving the way for the redevelopment. The project will include demolition of the current structure and construction of a 130,000 square foot industrial and logistics warehouse that will include the addition of private water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure, officials said.
During the height of the COVID pandemic the Hammock Inn became home to dozens of families and children displaced from their homes as direct economic impacts of the pandemic.
