New Lower Bucks Govt Services Center Plans Revealed

Bucks County pulled the gift wrapping off of its plan to build a brand new Lower Bucks Government Services Center (LBGCS) in the Levittown section of Bristol Township.

The sketch reveal happened at the Bristol Township Council meeting last week to enthusiastic  approval by township officials. The center will sit on and along New Falls Road which is currently home to a county government spaces used by various departments  such as the district  attorney’s office,  sheriff’s deputies and  health department offices . Also housed at that site is the Levittown Branch of the Bucks County Free Library, District Judge Terry Hughes’ courthouse Levittown 2 Fire Company and diagonally across the complex is the Family Services Association (FSA) Homeless Shelter.

The site, from the back is surrounded  by woods that many at times call home when no beds are available at the FSA shelter. To the left, and back of the wooded area is a warehouse where evidence is stored and kept.

The e plan is to demolish the existing and smaller annex and replace it with a two story sprawling  office building fronted by parking for staff and personnel  The square footage of the office  was not  released at the presentation.

Plans at this point are preliminary and subject to change. We hope to discuss this project in more detail in the coming weeks as things are hopefully finalized, said County Spokesman James O’Malley.

No other buildings will be  removed officials said and the space that houses the probation and parole department and other official offices will go back on to the “tax rolls” for a private entity to purchase and develop. The Council President was really excited  of that prospect.

It’s a win, win for us (Bristol Twp) he said,  we get a new office center and a property back on the rolls.

““This is definitely what we needed down here,”

The county said it will use funds from the  American Rescue Plan Act funds of about $10 million to fund a majority of the project,

The county expects to present the project to land development  plans in the next few months.
