School Board Approves First Responder Tax Refund

Last month the Bristol Township School Board of Directors approved a resolution that will provide active volunteer fire and emergency service workers up to a $750 tax refund if they meet established criteria.

This refund is made possible through a Pennsylvania law enacted in 2020 that provides the property tax credit as a way to incentivize citizens to volunteer for fire and emergency response services.

“We are happy to embrace the program and provide this refund to qualified emergency response volunteers,” Board President James Morgan stated.  “Strong communities need volunteers who give back, and this is a way to thank those who do so, and hopefully encourage more Bristol Township residents to get involved.”

The school district’s Business Office will provide registration information and qualification criteria for the program to approved volunteer organizations, and be responsible for keeping an official register of all active volunteers.

“We are hopeful that this innovative program makes our much-needed volunteers feel appreciated, and motivates others to take part in this vital volunteer service,” Morgan added.
