A Levittown man is accused of child sexual assault charges in Hunterdon County, New Jersey by the county prosecutor.
Joshua Daranijo is accused of having sexual contact with three victims under the age of 13, Hunterdon County authorities say.
He was charged with three counts each of sexual assault by contact and child endangerment, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said in a release Thursday.
According to New Jersey authorities Daranijo, worked at the Ridgewood YMCA’s Camp Bernie, and was removed when allegations were made he inappropriately touched child campers and an investigation opened earlier this summer.
Ridgewood YMCA is unaffiliated with the YMCA of Bucks County and Hunterdon County.
Daranijo was being held in the Warren County Jail pending his first court appearance
According to LehighValleyLive, Ridgewood YMCA President and CEO Ernest Lamour said in July lehighvalleylive.com that when it was reported a Camp Bernie staff member ‘acted inappropriately with children at the camp,’ authorities and families were notified, and the staff member was immediately placed on leave.
Multiple sources reached out to this publication Thursday and Friday saying Daranijo has worked previously in several jobs which deal directly with children which Lower Bucks Source confirmed late Friday.
The sources who are not authorized to speak publicly said Daranijo was a counselor in aferschool programs within the Bristol Township School District working for the YMCA.
Daranijo is being held in Warren County Jail pending his first court appearance.
