Woman Locks Herself in Wawa Bathroom Charged for Defiant Trespass

A 33 year-old Fairless Hills woman caused a stir of sorts last week at a Bristol Township Wawa locking herself in a bathroom during the early morning rush leading to her arrest for defiant trespass and resisting arrest.

On Sept. 3, 2026 at 6:05 a.m., Bristol Township Police were dispatched to the Wawa at 7625 New Falls Rd for report of an unwanted subject.

Upon arrival at the Wawa, police spoke with a Wawa employee and was advised that there was a female in the bathroom with a cart and other belongings who had been in there for at least 15 or so minutes and the employee wanted the female removed from the restroom, court papers show.

Upon entering the bathroom, police were  able to identify the person in the stall as Jerel Handy.

Through the course of attempting to convince Handy to voluntarily remove herself from the restroom stall  the same wawa employee advised police that the they wanted Handy trespassed from the Wawa.

After being given a final warning by police, and Handy not complying with that order, police attempted to effect an arrest against her.

Handy resisted the arrest by pulling away from police, placing her body against a stall door, and tensing preventing police from taking her into custody.

After overcoming her resistance, police were able to take Handy into custody.

She was arraigned and processed with bail set as unsecured with a court date set for September 29.
