Charges Sustained for Woman Who Threatened Falls Twp officer with Gun

A local woman charged, in July, with aggravated assault, fleeing, simple assault and a driving summary offense appeared in Falls Township District Court in September for her preliminary hearing.

District Judge John T. Galloway ruled  there was enough evidence presented by the commonwealth to sustain the charges against Karen Stevens-Nunez

Nunez was charged for a June incident that occurred during a wellness check on a person in the Fairless Hills Self Storage parking lot on South Oxford Valley Road. The subject, Nunez, was sitting outside by the opened front driver’s side door. Nunez then stood up and reached into the front driver’s compartment pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, turned to face the officer and pointed the gun towards him. The officer created distance and gave orders over his vehicle’s loud speaker for her to drop the weapon, according to the probable cause.

Nunez got into her vehicle and fled. The officer activated his vehicle’s overhead lights and siren and got behind her vehicle. She failed to stop, The officer continued to pursue the vehicle while she was yelling out the window to him. She was fumbling her hands and the officer observed her display the firearm in a cardboard box. The pursuit continued sometimes at high speeds, said in the affidavit.

By July 1, Nunez was taken into custody by police in Trenton, New Jersey. She was arraigned on July 8..  She is scheduled for formal arraignment on October 4  in Doylestown and she is also scheduled for a pre-trial conference on November 14 appearing before Judge Stephen A. Corr, according to court records.
