A Chester County man is behind bars after reportedly assaulting his girlfriend and restraining her from escaping the attack while driving from Philadelphia into Bucks County, according to Falls Township Police.
On Sunday May 17, 2026 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Falls Township Police were dispatched to 100 Cabot Boulevard East for an assault report. Bucks County Dispatch, according to the probable cause, advised of a female arriving at the property saying that her boyfriend assaulted her.
The victim reported she had lacerations on her face and felt very confused. She said male, her boyfriend was outside and she was able to get away from him because she told him she needed to use the bathroom.
Police arrived on scene and observed a white 2022 GMC Terrain bearing Pennsylvania registration “MZH0578” in the business’ parking lot. While speaking with the occupant, identified as Corey Sutton, he said that while driving south on Route 1 into Bucks County the couple began to argue, which became a physical altercation.
Sutton said that as he drove on Route 1, his girlfriend, hit him and ripped his shirt. Sutton said he swung his arm and hit the victim in the forehead. While speaking with Sutton, police observed blood splatters on the center console of the GMC and on the front passenger seat, where the victim was seated, according to the criminal complaint.
While speaking with the victim, it appeared like she had been struck multiple times in her face, due to several red markings, scratches on her face and behind her ears, police wrote in court papers.
Responding officers noted apparent bruising and immediate swelling above and below her left eye, also.
Her lips were swollen and blood was seen on the left side of her face, along with additional scratches. She had a hard time speaking due to swelling of her cheek and on the left side of her upper lip, police said.
The victim told police that while at home in Philadelphia, she was struck once by Sutton. He told her to get into the vehicle, which she did out of fear. She also said that as they drove south on Route 1, Sutton hit her approximately five times in the face.
She told police she had made several attempts to flee her the Sutton at several red light stops and also while the car was moving out of fear of immediate danger. Sutton, she said, stopped her from breaking free by physically restraining her, preventing her from getting away.
While speaking with the victim, she was unable to provide certain details of the incident due to a blunt trauma injury to her head, which she said put her in a daze, police said.
She was in obvious distress and fear while talking to police, officers said in court papers.
Upon exiting Route 1 and traveling onto the Oxford Valley exit, the victim used the excuse of needing to use the bathroom. This allowed her to get out of the vehicle and seek immediate help, police said.
Sutton was arraigned by the on-call district judge last May 17, charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, simple assault and a related summary offense. Bail set at 10 percent of $200,000.00.
Sutton is due back in court on June 2 for a preliminary hearing. He has no attorney of record currently, according to online court records.
