Andre Gordon, charged with the March 16 triple homicide in Falls Township that prompted a shelter in place directive, waived his extradition rights via video early Wednesday morning before a New Jersey judge. He was then transported to Bucks County to be arraigned by Falls Township District Judge John Galloway.
He is charged with three counts each of first-degree homicide and second-degree homicide with a myriad of related violent related offenses that occurred on the day Levittown was getting set for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Killed in Gordon’s alleged crime spree was his 52-year-old stepmother, Karen Gordon, 13-year-old sister, Kera Gordon, and 25-year-old mother of his children, Taylor Daniel.
Gordon was denied bail and, although not yet official, District Attorney Jennifer Schorn put the defendant on notice that she plans to seek the death penalty.
“We were anxiously awaiting him in Bucks County’s custody, and we wanted to make sure to argue that bail not be set given the extent of his crimes and obviously we are so pleased that Judge Galloway determined he was in fact not entitled to bail pending his prosecution,” said Schorn.
“….We have to certify the case before formal arraignment, so we wanted to make sure he was on notice that it was our intention at this juncture,” is to seek capital punishment.
A no contact condition was also put into place by Galloway. Gordon is not to have contact with his father, a cousin and a minor sibling, Daniel’s brother, her two children, ages three and five, and her mother who was allegedly injured by Gordon trying to save the rest of her family. Also included in the no contact condition is the carjack victim from Morrisville.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 16, 2024.
Marcel Johnson, now 31, is the last Bucks County resident sentenced to death. He was convicted in 2015 for the 2013 killing of five months pregnant Ebony Talley, 22, and daughter R’mani Rankins, 4. Rankins murder is what earned Johnson the death penalty. The last person executed in Pennsylvania was Gary Heidink in 1979 by lethal injection.
