Army Private First Class Nathanial Edward DeTample’s memory and legacy will continue for future generations as part of a formal bridge renaming.

On Monday night, the Falls Supervisors presented a proclamation to DeTample’s family officially renaming the Alden Avenue Bridge the PFC Nathaniel Edward DeTample Bridge.

DeTample, 19, died in 2005 while deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“Nothing we say can fully express the loss,” Falls Supervisor Jeff Dence said prior to reading the proclamation. “His legacy lives on.”

Renaming the bridge after him is a “small way for us to ensure that his name, service and sacrifice are never forgotten,” Dence continued.

Falls will be holding a bridge dedication next month.

The board also read a proclamation for lifelong Falls resident Thomas D. Ormond Jr., for 65 years of volunteer service with Levittown Fire Co. No. 1.

In other business, the board approved a conditional use application to permit storage of trucks and trailers as an additional primary use on a 6.81-acre parcel situated at 78 E. Cabot Blvd. The existing structure is used for truck repair.
