Fired Employee Robs Tractor Trailer and Flees to New Jersey

A terminated employee reportedly frustrated with losing his job made his situation far worse, according to Falls Township Police, when he assaulted one of his bosses and took off in a company truck last month.

On Thursday July 16, 2026 at approximately 11:14 a.m., Falls Township Police were dispatched by Bucks County Radio (BCR) to ASM Truck Repair located at 1501 South Pennsylvania Ave. in Morrisville for an assault that had just occurred. 

The victim called and said he was punched by a former employee and that the employee stole a truck with keys in it.

Police started to head in the direction of the call and BCR provided updates as officers headed that way.

BCR stated that the truck was leaving the repair lot and that the victim was following them in a white Toyota Rav 4. As the officer was still driving in the direction of the call, BCR updated again, reporting that the Red Volvo Tractor Trailer was on Rt. 1 headed northbound into New Jersey, police wrote in court records. 

BCR updated responding police again stating that it was a tractor trailer with a trailer on the back and it was spotted by Morrisville Borough Police on Rt. 1 just crossing over the bridge into New Jersey.

At the time they did not have a trailer tag, Falls Twp. Police asked BCR to relay the information to the Trenton Police Department. While Falls Twp. Police were rapidly closing in on the tractor trailer already on Rt. 1 northbound, Morrisville Borough Police advised that an officer was with the victim on the side of Rt. 29 in New Jersey, according to the criminal complaint. 

Falls Police met with the victim and asked him what had happened. The victim said that he is a part owner of ASM Trucking and he was at the repair shop on South Pennsylvania Ave., when he informed an employee, Orane Bennett, that his services were no longer needed and that he was being let go.

Bennett was still in the Volvo truck he had driven back to the company after dropping off a load. The victim/part owner said Bennett was mad and grabbed his shirt, pushed it up into his face and then punched him while pushing him out of the truck’s cab. The victim/part owner says he was on the passenger’s side of the truck with the door open, talking with Bennett, who was in the driver’s seat, the probable cause alleges.

The victim/part owner said he fell backwards after being pushed and grabbed onto the truck to block his fall, police said. 

Bennett, according to the probable cause, then shut the truck’s door and locked it. The victim/part owner said Bennett then started the truck and drove off the repair lot.

The victim/part owner told police he did not sustain any injuries during the confrontation and said that the truck was not road ready due to the tires almost being bald, and that is why he told Bennett to bring the truck back in the first place. 

As the victim was relating his story to the Falls Twp. Police officer on the side of the road on Rt. 29, the Morrisville Borough Police officer spotted the tractor trailer combo at a red light, a few hundred feet from where both officers were, ready to make a left hand turn back onto Rt. 29. 

The officers informed BCR that they had spotted the truck and now, with lights and sirens on, proceeded down Rt. 29 to try and catch the fleeing truck. 

A short distance down Rt. 29, the officers caught up with the truck and attempted to pull it over. Bennett was not fleeing; he slowed down and looked for a safe place to pull over. The truck pulled over just past the underpass on Rt. 29, but blocked a portion of the roadway. Due to the strong-arm robbery of the truck taken by force, an officer took out his service weapon and ordered Bennett out of the cab. Bennett was detained without incident, Falls Twp. Police advised BCR. The victim/part owner called one of his truck drivers to help drive the truck back to ASM Repair.

A short time later, Falls Twp. Police transferred custody of Bennett to New Jersey State Police. The Falls officer told the state trooper that a warrant for Bennett would be written up and the final copy would be faxed to the trooper. The state trooper advised the Falls Twp. officer that once the warrant was approved, he would file a fugitive of justice charge for Bennett and then transport him to Mercer County for detention.

Bennett, 40 of Bridgeport, Connecticut was charged with felony counts of robbery, receiving stolen property, theft and related offenses. He was released on $10,000 bond two days later and is due back in court on September 2.
