To ‘thieve’ or not to ‘thieve’ was possibly the question a 35-year-old Levittown man may have asked himself before deciding to allegedly steal Verizon cable wire by severing it and apparently doing so in full view of a witness earning him a date with a judge.
Falls Township Police responded on Saturday September 6, 2025 at 3:01 p.m. to the corner of Penn Valley Road and Bristol Pike, located in the Morrisville section of the township, for a criminal mischief complaint. According to Bucks County Radio (BCR), the witness saw a male subject, appearing to be in his 30’s, in a silver pickup truck and utilizing a saw to cut down wire, said in the probable cause.
The complainant saw the suspect, later identified as Samuel Delbuono Jr., allegedly using a Sawzall-type saw to cut pieces of wire near Bristol Pike and Penn Valley Road. Delbuono carried the wire back to his Pennsylvania registered silver 2008 GMC Sierra parked in Wawa’s parking lot. The Good Samaritan followed Delbuono, parked near the GMC and witnessed him placing the wire in the rear bed of the GMC, the criminal complaint alleges.
The wire was identified as belonging to Verizon based on its black rubber outer sheath, said police in the affidavit detailing conversation with complainant.
Police located the Verizon pole, which had a section of wire severed. The GMC’s tag was researched on VIPR, an automated License Plate Detector. This captured the GMC moments after the theft, and within the vehicle was the previously described wire. The officer received a phone call from the alleged thief. He admitted he was in the area of the Wawa on Bristol Pike at the time of the theft, and observed “black wire”. The accused man admitted he was the sole occupant/operator of the GMC in question. A Verizon employee spoke with police, confirming the wire was Verizon’s and provided an estimate for the materials/repairs of $4,000.00, alleged in the probable cause.
