New Falls and Tyburn Roads Intersection in Levittown Focus of State Lawmakers

The pock filled intersection at the New Falls and Tyburn Roads intersection in Levittown motorists are all too familiar with; the shake and rattle that comes with crossing through it no matter the direction is a focus point of state lawmakers seeking to make it safer.

State Rep Jim Prokopiak (D- Bucks) said Thursday he and staffers from state Senator Steve Santarsiero’s (D-Bucks) office met with Falls Township officials, Bucks County Planning Commission, PennDOT, and county officials to discuss ongoing concerns about the intersection.

“We understand this intersection has been a longstanding concern for residents and motorists, and our office is aware of the issues and is committed to improving safety and traffic flow in the area,” Prokopiak said.

Both roads are currently scheduled for resurfacing in 2027, according to officials.

On Friday Lower Bucks Source recorded a cell phone video, with the cell taped to the dashboard of a 2013 Ford Edge four wheel drive SUV going through the intersection at Tyburn road, as a one-time runoff experiment. The results, to say the least, are jarring.

Commenter’s on Prokopiak’s Meta page seemed to agree.

“We are exploring opportunities to include short-term improvements as part of that project while also continuing to pursue the design and funding of  of a larger long-term solution. We will continue to keep residents updated as developments occur,” Prokopiak said.

But how much longer can the intersection hold up before it becomes an ever growing pot hole?
