A New Jersey man was sentenced on Monday to just under six to 12 years in state prison for the rape of an unconscious woman in February 2024 in Falls Township.
In July, Bryan M. Stackhouse was convicted by a Bucks County jury on charges of rape of an unconscious person, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and indecent assault. He was sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr.
The police investigation began on Sunday, February 11, 2024, when Jefferson Torresdale Hospital notified officers of a rape victim at their facility.
The victim and a friend had been at a bar where they met Stackhouse and another man. After leaving the bar, they went to Stackhouse’s apartment in Falls Township. The victim told police that she woke up to Stackhouse sexually assaulting her.
During the investigation, evidence was collected that included a DNA analysis that confirmed Stackhouse’s involvement in the rape. That evidence was presented during 3-day trial before Judge Bateman.
During the sentencing hearing, the court heard the victim’s powerful impact statement read by Assistant District Attorney Jennifer McInerney. In the statement, the victim described the profound and lasting toll the assault has taken on her life.
“I’m here today to tell you about how this event has affected my life. Talking about this is really hard for me, but I kept telling myself this is my chance for my voice to finally be heard,” she said in her address to the court. She concluded the statement by asking the judge to consider the weight of holding such pain for the rest of her life.
He then sentenced Stackhouse to five to 10 years in state prison on the first count, one year less a day to two years less a day on the second count, and five years of probation on the third count, with all sentences to run consecutively.
