A tractor trailer carrying household garbage that overturned, sliding across the roadway striking a pickup truck waiting at a redlight, was caused by a failure to make a right turn from Tyburn Road onto New Ford Mill Road, Falls Township Police said Wednesday.
The crash occurred, with reported entrapment, Tuesday just before 11 am. Partial and full closures of New Ford Mill Road had to be imposed for the remainder of the day while Traffic Safety Unit Sergeant Raymond Fanelli investigated and the area was cleaned up, police said.
Rob’s Towing used specialized equipment, including heavy-duty tow trucks, front-end loaders, and garbage bins, to upright the vehicle and clean up the spilled cargo, Lt Chris Clark said.

Neighboring police departments were notified about potential traffic overflow, Falls authorities said, adding neither driver sustained any injuries and alcohol, drugs or a medical emergency are not believed to be factors for the cause of the crash.
An inspection was conducted on the vehicle, resulting in several citations for both the driver and the motor carrier, including a violation of Title 75, Section 1606, which mandates that drivers of commercial motor vehicles hold a commercial driver’s license, Clark said.
