A traffic accident involving two commercial motor vehicles caused diesel fuel leakage, led to Tyburn Road being closed, diverted traffic to neighboring boroughs for hours, and sent one driver to the hospital, said Lieutenant Christopher Clark of the Falls Township Police Department.
Lt. Clark sent a press release with the following information:
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Bucks County Department of Emergency Communications received a report of a traffic collision involving two commercial motor vehicles at the intersection of Tyburn Road and New Ford Mill Road in Morrisville.
Upon arrival, responders found that one driver, a 53-year-old male from Philadelphia, was semi-conscious. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Capital Health Hospital in New Jersey for evaluation and treatment.
The impact left both vehicles disabled in the roadway and shoulder, leaking a significant amount of diesel fuel. Firefighters and Fire Police from Falls Township Fire Company No. 1. (Station 30) responded to stabilize the scene and manage environmental concerns. The hazardous conditions required traffic to be diverted to surrounding boroughs for safe passage. Local police departments were notified to mitigate the impact.
Several heavy-duty tow trucks and a street sweeper were required to remove the vehicles and debris, resulting in the closure of Tyburn Road for approximately two and a half hours. PennDOT was also notified to repair damage to a guard rail.
Preliminary investigation indicates that prior to the collision, the Philadelphia resident was operating a truck tractor eastbound on Tyburn Road, attempting to proceed through the intersection. The second vehicle, an unladen tractor-trailer operated by a 25-year-old male from Zion Grove, PA, was turning left from Tyburn Road westbound onto New Ford Mill Road southbound.
Neither vehicle was equipped with a dashboard camera, and the intersection does not have video monitoring. One witness provided information before leaving the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing as police seek additional evidence and eyewitness accounts.
Falls Township Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dashboard camera footage of the area at the time of the incident to contact Sgt. Raymond Fanelli at r.fanelli@fallstwppd.com or (215) 302-3346.
