Wegmans Seafood Thief Hooked Up, Police Say

An alleged Wegmans seafood thief pushed her luck going back to the well one too many times and now finds herself enjoying the menu offerings at Bucks County Jail.

Lydia Rodriguez, 49, of Trenton was arraigned on two counts of felony retail theft related offenses early Thursday morning by an on-call district judge.

According to Lower Makefield Township Police (LMT), Wegmans loss prevention reported Rodriguez committed two retail thefts on June 17  and June 22  removing a total of $2,123.32 worth of merchandise.

A warrant was issued for her arrest on June 22.

On June 25 LMT Police officers responded to a traffic stop on Oxford Valley Road near Lincoln Hwy. where Middletown Township Police had Rodriguez detained.

Police identified the male driver who was found with a large quantity of US currency.

A search of the vehicle revealed a black garbage bag containing multiple boxes of crab legs, police said.

Rodriguez, who is known to commit retail thefts of seafood, police said, was taken into custody.

She was transported to police headquarters for processing and subsequently sent to Bucks County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of $5000.00.

Rodriguez is due back on July 7 to answer the charges. Meanwhile, a Bucks County judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest connected to an April 2025 retail theft case out of Lower Makefield Township.

She was processed on that warrant and is scheduled for a July 29 court pre trial/guilty plea conference.

At last check, the crab legs section at Wegmans was fully stocked.
