Cops: Levittown Man Robs Woman for Cigs & Cash

A Levittown man with a history of assault convictions let the cigarette and money monster get the best of him as he stands accused of robbery, strangulation and assault charges filed by Middletown Township Police.

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Middletown Township Police responded to St. Mary’s Hospital for a patient receiving medical care after she was involved in a domestic assault, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the patient/victim who reported several hours prior she was involved in a physical domestic with  Matthew Hines, 43 at her apartment in the Middletown Twp. section of Levittown. The victim reported Hines demanded money and cigarettes from her and when she refused, he attacked her.

In the attack, She told police Hines grabbed her by the neck, pushed her down onto  the coffee table and attempted to take her purse which contained money and cigarettes, according to court records.

The victim  held onto her purse refusing to give it to him and Hines punched her in the face, police said.

Police observed bruising at the top of the victim’s right side of her head and redness and swelling around her right eye. She was also complaining about rib pain, officers noted in the probable cause.

On-call District Judge Regina Armitage arraigned Hines and set bail at 1o percent  of $75,000 which he was unable to post and was remanded to county jail.

His preliminary hearing is currently set for April 16 and he will be represented by the Bucks County Public Defender’s Office, according to online court records.
