49-year-old Anthony Cantiello was arrested and charged with illegal recording offenses for posting live and recorded conversations he had with St. Mary Medical Center officials in September to his personal Meta page.
According to the probable cause, filed by Middletown Township Police, investigators reviewed video footage, which Cantiello posted to his Facebook account on 9/24/2024, depicting himself calling an executive assistant at St. Mary Medical Center and trying to reach the medical center’s chief of nursing. The call consisted of Cantiello speaking to the assistant and trying to reach the nursing department official. Audio and video were enabled on the video and the call lasted approximately two minutes.
During the call Cantiello questioned the departmental assistant about a pending lawsuit against him. He screamed and cursed at the assistant, before the call was terminated, police said in court records.
The executive assistant told police he did not provide consent to Cantiello to record or post the conversation.
Police reviewed video footage, which Cantiello posted to his Facebook account on Oct 5, 2024, depicting himself answering a phone call and placing the call on speaker phone. The male on the other end introduces himself as an attorney from St. Mary’s Medical Center. Cantiello questions the attorney about being barred from St. Mary’s property. Bond advises that St. Mary’s staff no longer want him on the medical center’s premises. Audio and video were enabled on the video.
The attorney confirmed he did not provide consent for Cantiello to record or post that conversation, according to court records.
Day’s later St Marys’ security forwarded police a voicemail from Cantiello, which was left for the attorney that consisted of Cantiello yelling at him for suing him.
“I will “f**king kick your a** until my f**king leg falls off,” is what police say is on the recorded message.
Cantiello was arraigned by District Judge Charles D. Jonas who scheduled a hearing for December 12. An Unsecured bail was set. He is charged with one felony count of intercept communications, one felony count of use intercepted communications, and terroristic threats.
Editors Note (1) – As a FYI to those in the general public who might be aware of or know the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a two-party state meaning: it a crime to intercept or record a telephone call or conversation unless all parties to the conversation consent. Please see see for a fuller discussion on the matter here: 18 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 5703.
Editors Note (2). St Mary Medical Center did not officially respond to a request for comment on the “pending lawsuit” against Mr. Cantiello.
