Panic ran through the Middletown Township section of Levittown Thursday evening as reports from off and on duty law enforcement personnel said an “active shooter” incident was in play at the Oxford Valley Mall.
To further complicate matters only minutes after what police are now calling an isolated incident a powerful thunderstorm ripped through the area.
Middletown Township Police said the suspect, who shot and stabbed the victim fled the area before officers could catch up with him. He is described as a African American, last seen wearing green pants, dark colored jacket, and was holding a black and white bag. The firearm was a handgun, possibly a revolver, authorities said.

This evening there was an isolated shooting incident at the Oxford Valley Mall. The offender and victim knew each other and the shooter fled immediately. This was not an active shooter incident, there was a clear intended target who was the only victim. The shooter is still at large and the victim is at the hospital in stable condition.
Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla acknowledged the fear and panic that can be conjured with the words “shooter” and a “mall” in the same sentence.

A man was shot and stabbed in front of the J.C. Penny at the SEPTA Bus Stop, the chief said and then ran into back into the mall, where he works and a shutdown of stores in the mall quickly began.
Lower Bucks Source tipsters said the shooting happened inside the mall area, near Victoria’s Secret which is what the publication posted, based upon more than three sources sharing identical accounts of the first moments after the actual gunfire and stabbing.
As of late Friday night no arrests have been made with the investigation ongoing.
