Porch Pirates Caught Thieving, Say Middletown Twp Police

Early Friday the arrests of two alleged porch pirates pilfering packages containing Apple products shipped to addresses in Middletown Township  was announced by police.

According to a press release posted,  Middletown Township Police,  received information from AT&T regarding several Apple products that were being shipped to addresses in Middletown on September 26, 2024 (yesterday).  Detectives conducted surveillance on the identified properties, along with AT&T providing tracking numbers.  One of these properties, 172 Bateman Road, had an iPhone 16 Pro delivered at 1303 hours. 14-minutes later,  detectives observed the above pictured Honda pull up to the residence with the rear driver side passenger exiting, proceeding to the porch, and removing the package.

The vehicle was immediately stopped by police as several cell phone boxes were observed in the plain view of detectives who were on the surveillance detail. The cell phones of suspects Elias Gomez-Rodriguez and Elvi Duran Vargas, vehicle owner. were seized and search warrants will be obtained in the following week for the suspects and the Honda. A check of area license plate readers showed, investigators said,  the vehicle had been in the Hatboro/Willow Grove area just prior to being in Langhorne, authorities said.

Rodriguez was interviewed and said Vargas was being provided with tracking numbers and addresses by an unidentified suspect. Vargas declined to be interviewed without an attorney, police said.

The alleged thieving “pirates” were arraigned by District Judge Kevin P. Wagner on three theft related charges setting bail at 10 percent of $75,000.00 Unable to post, they were both sent to Bucks County Jail and are due back in court on October 10.
