A 25-year-old woman reported missing from out of state was discovered dead in a vacant apartment on West Bridge Street in Morrisville Borough Friday afternoon, authorities say.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m., Morrisville Borough Police were dispatched to a reported medical emergency on Bridge Street after a realtor discovered an unresponsive female inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult female inside an apartment believed to be vacant and undergoing renovation.
Tipsters to Lower Bucks Source reported the police and rescue squad presence on the 400 block of West Bridge Street around the same time Morrisville Police officers arrived on scene.
“Due to the circumstances surrounding the discovery, the Bucks County Detectives were notified and responded to assist with the investigation,” Chief of Police Rich Ciampa, said . The woman has been identified as a 25-year-old who was reported missing from out of state earlier this month, the chief added.
Tipsters said the entire backyard are was taped off and said investigators from Mercer County, New Jersey were working the scene also, possible explaining the “out of state” reference Ciampa alluded to.
“It remains unclear why she was inside the residence in Morrisville. Her identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin,” said Ciampa.
Preliminary information indicates this to be an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to public safety at this time, the chief said.
The cause of death has not been determined and the investigation remains active and ongoing, Ciampa said.
The Bucks County Coroner’s office did not immediately respond to information requests Saturday morning.
The property where the woman was discovered is currently listed “for sale” by online realty websites.
