A three vehicle smashup, started by a head on collision on West Bridge Street, tied up traffic for just under an hour with the motorists luckily escaping injuries.

According to Morrisville Police, on Saturday, August 31, a vehicle entered the oncoming traffic lane and caused a head-on collision with an older style pickup truck that then rolled into a smaller pickup truck.

Due to the crash on a busy Morrisville arterial, Cpl. Lew Halas said, traffic was detoured for approximately 40 minutes while tow trucks accessed both sides of the road.

The accident was dispatched at 11:50 a.m. and cleared by 12:45 p.m.,  he said.

Citations were issued to the driver of the sedan who caused the accident, said Halas.

No injuries were reported, police said.
