Morrisville Man Slams Man with Bat in “Crazy” Attack

A 31 year old Morrisville man is facing a number of serious charges after he attacked and bloodied another man with a bat Tuesday night in a “crazy” attack at a Robertson Avenue residence.

On-call Judge David J. Chichilitti preliminarily arraigned Mehmet Aksoy on felony counts of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and a myriad of related offenses early Wednesday morning remanding him to Bucks County Correctional on 10 percent of $25,000.00 bail.

According to Morrisville Borough Police, officers were dispatched Tuesday evening, just past 8 p.m. to the 100 block of Robertson Avenue for a domestic in progress.

Bucks County dispatch notified responding officers that an unknown white male armed with a baseball bat was slamming  a vehicle outside the residence. Additional reports indicated the male suspect then ran inside the house, and yelling could be heard by neighbors.

Witnesses, according to dispatch, also reported seeing a white male wearing a white shirt, gray sweatpants and no shoes flee the area.

Officers arrived on scene and located the male wearing a white shirt, later identified as the victim, on Harrison Avenue heading towards S. Pennsylvania Avenue.

He had blood and injuries on the left side of his face, as well as cuts to his left arm,police wrote in court papers. He kept saying “Help please, he’s crazy”.

Officers placed in a patrol vehicle and transported back to the Robertson Ave. residence.

Upon arrival at the Robertson Ave  residence, police knocked on the door and identified themselves.

Shortly afterwards, officers heard a loud bang coming from inside the residence, accroding to the criminal complaint.

One of the officers then saw Aksoy, emerge from the southern side of the house holding a baseball bat.

The officer announced himself and illuminated Aksoy with his flashlight and he immediately dropped the bat and surrendered himself and was taken into custody without further incident, police said court papers.

At that time, medics were requested to treat the victim, who was subsequently transported to Jefferson Bucks Hospital for medical treatment, police said.

According to witnesses, the victim was in the kitchen when Aksoy entered the house and attempted to attack the victim. At some point, the probable cause alleges,  during the altercation, Aksoy retrieved the bat and struck the victim in the head. When the victim attempted to take cover behind the glass door leading to the porch area, Aksoy struck the glass pane with the bat, smashing which sent glass towards the victim and cutting him.

The victim was then able to fiee the house and run down the street, he told police.

Witnesses also reported that Aksoy said he wanted to kill the victim. The victim told the officers that he feared for his life and felt that Aksoy would kill him.

Askov is due back in court on June 2 for a preliminary hearing. He has no attorney of record, according to online court records.

Police did not note or specify, in court records, how the two men know each other or the motivating factor for Askov’s violent attack.

The current condition of the victim is unknown as of publication time.
