John Aspromonti was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and obstruction of the administration of law originally, will have his case heard at the municipal court on October 19, a spokesperson told Lower Bucks Source Wednesday.
Municipal and superior court administrators were unsure after the arrest which court the case would be presented in. The case is now scheduled for municipal court, where “lesser crimes” are heard, a court official said.
Aspromonti, a veteran officer with the department, was placed on light desk duty, shortly after the arrest came to light, two law enforcement sources told the publication earlier this week.
An executive session prior this weeks council meeting was held, officials noted, but they did not provide specifics on whether the charged officer’s status was discussed.
Chief of Police, George McClay said no thanks” when asked to comment on the case Aspromonti’s work status.
According to the Monmouth County online court records, on September 14 two charges were added, reckless boating and unauthorized use of an island and two offenses were dropped; disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
Aspromonti is accused of “digging out” a sign and fleeing the area on his boat on September 5. in Briellle Borough
A resident of the area, contacted police to report Aspromonti “tampering” with a sign on Nienstedt Island, according to police records.
He was officially charged two days after the original incident, police records show.
Fired Cpl.Michael Pitcher is scheduled for trial in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas on October 12. He is accused of unlawful use of a computer, terroristic threats, and additional offenses as part of an incident that took place in April of 219.
