Authorities Investigate Bomb Threat at Newtown Synagogue

Newtown Police Department responded to Shir Ami, in Newtown Township on December 14, 2024 at 12:05 p.m. after receiving an email threat of a bomb scare at their facility.

For the safety of the children, the Synagogue made the decision to evacuate the children from the school and notified our department.

An immediate Police response by Newtown Police and Newtown Emergency Services was initiated – a negative search by school and police personnel in addition to an ordinance K9 ‘s which were training locally.

Children were temporarily relocated to an alternate site while search was conducted.

Investigators and FBI are coordinating the investigation as this has been reported to have occurred at other locations within the state.  If you see something, say something:  Contact 9-1-1 directly, published safety officials say.
