Newtown Twp Police Reports: Traffic Stops Lead to DUI, Narcotics Charges, “Sherriff” Scam Warning and More

Newtown Township Police Reports – Nov 15, 2024 – Nov 25, 2024

11/15/24 – The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road. The unit is made up of officers from this department, the Newtown Borough Police Department, and the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. During the detail, 10 trucks were stopped and inspected. Two trucks were placed out of service, and 3 citations and 2 warnings were issued for violations that were found.

11/15/24 – At approximately 9:15 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Subaru sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

11/15/24 – At approximately 10:10 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Pontiac operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. As a result of the investigation, a firearm was discovered and seized as evidence, and one female was taken into custody and charged with carrying a firearm without a license.

11/16/24 – At approximately 7:30 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of South Eagle Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

11/17/24 – At 1:10 am police conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Newtown Langhorne Road and the Newtown Bypass. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.

11/19/24 **SCAM ALERT** A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 2:00 pm to report a scam. The resident received a phone call from someone pretending to be a part of the Bucks County Sheriff’s Warrant Unit. They claimed the resident owed $8,000 for missing jury duty, instructed him to take money out of a kiosk, and threatened arrest for non-compliance. The resident recognized this scam for what it was and did not suffer any loss.

11/20/24 – At approximately 8:00 pm police were dispatched to Windy Bush Road and Skoures Lane in Wrightstown Township for the report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. Upon contact with one of the operators, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

11/21/24 – At 1:00 am police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-250 operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Woodbourne Road and White Swan Way. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and one male subject was arrested in connection.

11/22/24 – At approximately 11:00 pm police responded to a single-vehicle traffic accident in the area of North Sycamore Street and Silo Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.

11/25/24 – A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 9:45 am to report that a bank account was fraudulently opened in her name. The resident contacted the bank, which flagged the account as fraudulent and notified the credit agencies. There was no monetary loss.

11/25/24 – At approximately 11:15 am police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of domestic-related terroristic threats. As a result of the investigation, a criminal complaint was filed against one male subject for terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and disorderly conduct.

11/25/24 – At approximately 10:00 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Focus operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and Township Line Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
