Newtown Twp. Police Reports – May 16, 2025 – May 29, 2025
5/19/25 – Police were dispatched to Lululemon on South Eagle Road around 6:00 pm for a retail theft that had just occurred. The store manager reported that two female subjects left the store with unpaid merchandise and left the area in a gold Chevy Malibu. As a result of the investigation, the vehicle was located and stopped in Lower Makefield. Stolen merchandise was recovered for Lululemon and Ulta Beauty, and three subjects were taken into custody and charged with retail theft.
5/20/25 – At approximately 12:30 pm police were dispatched to Lululemon on South Eagle Road for a retail theft that had just occurred. The store employee reported that a male subject left the store with unpaid merchandise and left the area in a black-colored vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
5/20/25 – At approximately 4:00 pm police were contacted about a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that their E-ZPass was taken from their parked car in the area of McCaffrey’s Market’s parking lot sometime between 2:00 and 2:30 pm.
5/20/25 – A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 9:15 pm to report a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that someone rifled through his glove box and center console while the vehicle was parked at his residence around 5:30 am.
5/21/25 – A Newtown Township resident contacted police at approximately 12:45 pm to report a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that the theft occurred between midnight and 2:00 am while her car was parked and unlocked in her driveway.
5/22/25 – At approximately 1:30 pm police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty on South Eagle Road for two retail thefts that occurred the day prior. The investigations are ongoing at this time.
5/22/25 – At approximately 11:00 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pickup truck operator in the area of 7-11 on Sycamore Street. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
5/27/25 – **SCAM ALERT** At approximately 3:30 pm a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a gift card scam. The resident received a phone call from someone who claimed his YouTube TV account would be canceled unless he provided payment via gift cards. The resident fell for the scam and spent $3,500 on gift cards. Police remind residents that legitimate businesses and government agencies will never ask for payment in gift cards. Never give out gift card information to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly. If you’re unsure about a contact, verify their identity by contacting them directly through a known phone number or email address.
5/28/25 – At approximately 2:15 pm police were dispatched to a Newtown Township resident for the report of a theft. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
5/29/25 – **SCAM ALERT** Throughout the day, the police business office received a few inquiries from residents concerned about texts that they received. Police confirmed that a recent scam that is currently circulating involves text messages impersonating the Pennsylvania Court system, claiming that you have an outstanding traffic ticket and demanding payment via a scam URL. The texts threaten license and vehicle suspension, criminal prosecution, and negative credit impacts if you don’t pay. The Pennsylvania Courts will never solicit payments via text message or any electronic funds transfer. Do not respond to the text or click on any links.
5/29/25 – **SCAM ALERT** A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 2:00 pm to report a gift card scam. The resident received an email about an increase in his Netflix bill. When he called the phone number to sort things out, he was instructed to purchase several gift cards and to provide the PINs. The resident fell for the scam and spent $3,500 on gift cards.
5/29/25 – At approximately 11:15 pm police conducted a traffic stop on a Mazda sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Lower Dolington Road and Yorkshire Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Suspected narcotics were also discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
