A  Levittown man was taken into custody after he was involved in a motorcycle accident earlier this month police said because the bike was reportedly stolen.

Pendell Borough Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway for an accident report involving a motorcycle, on June 12.

Upon arrival on scene the rider of the bike, identified as Robert Baker of Middletown told police he swerved to avoid stopped traffic striking a vehicle trying to enter a parking lot, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

While police continued with their  accident investigation, it was discovered Baker had a suspended driver’s license, authorities said.

During questioning about the accident, Baker attempted to leave the scene by getting on the motorcycle and starting the engine. Baker was then detained.

Further investigation revealed the motorcycle had been  reported stolen from a residence in Falls Township, police say.

In speaking with the owner, the name of Robert Baker was unknown to him  and he didn’t approve of anyone using his motorcycle, said police.

Baker was arrested and transported to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

He’s been charged with a felony theft related offense, one misdemeanor driving related offense,  two drug related offenses, and four driving related summary offenses. He was remanded to Bucks County Correctional in lieu of 10% of $25,000 bail.

He is tentatively  scheduled to appear in in Penndel District Court on July 1.
