There was a celebration in Penndel Borough, the first of its kind, in more than two decades as Hilary Kloiber was sworn in “to serve and protect” as a full-time police officer on Monday night.

“This could not have been possible without the support of our mayor and Borough Council,” said Sean Perry, Chief of Police.

The Penndel community came out in full-throated support whether in person, or on social media.

As  to why it’s the first time Penndel has hired a full-time officer in decades? Stay tuned, hopefully Perry,  Mayor Tom Sodano, or Borough Manager Geoff Thompson will shed some light on the subject later today.

In related Borough news, Penndel is seeking substitute crossing guards with schools opening in a few weeks. You can call 215-757- 5152 for application information.
