Bucks County Detective Earns National Distinction with Digital Justice Award

There are law enforcement investigators who thrive because they have a specific knowledge base and skill set others do not possess.

Bucks County Detective Eric Landamia special police superpower is digital sleuthing in criminal investigations.

It is the investigator “paper chase” gone digital.

Landamia was honored with the Voice for the Voiceless Cellebrite JUSTYS Digital Justice Award Tuesday evening  at the C2C User Summit in Washington, D.C.

The Voice for the Voiceless award acknowledges investigators who utilize digital forensics to advocate for victims and provide critical clarity in criminal investigations.

Landamia was nominated by his supervisor, Detective Lieutenant Timothy Perkins, for his exceptional expertise and commitment to staying at the forefront of evolving digital technology.

“His training and experience are second to none,” Perkins wrote in nominating Landamia.

“Through his County-wide assistance, he has made the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, his colleagues, and the Bucks County Law Enforcement community very proud. His tireless investigative efforts and relentless pursuit for justice makes him an excellent nominee for Voice for the Voiceless Award.”

A veteran investigator, Landamia has been recognized in several courts as an expert in mobile device forensics, county authorities said in a release.

His work has been pivotal in a wide range of high-profile cases, including most recently in  Comm. v. Angelina Urumova: In a vital display of forensic accuracy, Landamia used recovered mobile data to prove that an accusation of attempted rape was fabricated. His findings led to the exoneration of a man who had been wrongfully jailed for 31 days and the subsequent prosecution of the false reporter.

Comm. v. Stephen Capaldi: Despite the suspect’s use of “incognito” modes and habitual data deletion, Detective Landamia recovered hidden search queries regarding the disposal of evidence. He also used iPad and iPhone device events to prove the crime scene had been staged.

Comm. v. George Clark: In a murder case that had remained unsolved for nearly eight years, Landamia recovered a single, critical text message. This evidence led to a confession and the eventual conviction of two co-conspirators.

Whether he is uncovering hidden evidence in a homicide or exonerating the wrongfully accused, Eric’s work ensures that the truth is heard loud and clear.”   Detective Landamia’s work continues to bolster the capabilities of the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and provides a vital service to the residents of Pennsylvania.
