Cops: Crash into Pole leads to DUI Arrest

In a modern day summer version of “grandma ran over a reindeer” a 74 year-old Yardley woman was charged with DUI and careless driving Monday by the Yardley Borough Police.

Just after 7 am Monday morning, Yardley Borough Police was dispatched to a vehicle crashing into a pole report in the parking lot of 44 South Main Street.

Lower Makefield Police were on scene out of concern for women’s condition, police said.

Subsequent investigation led to probable cause the woman motorist was over the influence (DUI).

She was arrested, refused chemical testing, processed and released police said

Patricia Furst was charged with careless driving, DUI and her chemical testing refusal was referred to PA Department of Transportation.

Furst’s vehicle was impounded and she is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 15 at Morrisville District Court,  according to online court records.
