State Police to Conduct DUI Checks Over this Weekend in Lower Bucks

A DUI check point in Anaheim, CA.

The Pennsylvania State Police – Trevose Barracks will conduct a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in Lower Bucks County.

A sobriety checkpoint is a traffic safety checkpoint wherein Pennsylvania State Troopers systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for articulable facts and/or behaviors normally associated with alcohol or drug-impaired drivers, Cpl. Joseph M Irwin said.

Sobriety checkpoints are used to reduce alcohol- and drug-related fatal and serious crashes. In addition, it is to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania’s highways.

The Pennsylvania State Police is committed to maintaining a safe environment for the motoring public. The above-mentioned sobriety checkpoints are intended to achieve this goal.

With “riding” weather forecast, it’s more than likely motorcyclists will be out en masse too during the checkpoint time frame- beginning Friday at 8 p.m. and running until early Sunday at 4 a.m.

If you’re going to drink, there is no need to drive or ride. There are plenty of rideshare options available.

Or you could quite possibly wind up appearing in a DUI arrest /crash story.

The consequences of driving under the influence can be life-ending.
