State Police issued a report last week identifying 77 businesses warned for violating health and safety restrictions intended to help mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus cases in the commonwealth.

During a week long – July 6 to July 12-  enforcement period state police performed unannounced inspections  at 4,360 alcohol-restaurants serving alcoholic beverages and bars checking for compliance, state police said in a release Monday morning.

Of those, 77 were given warnings, with none in Bucks County given warnings.

Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement Major Jeffrey Fisher said inspections and enforcement are intended to help keep employees and customers safe.

Inspections generally focus more heavily on areas with higher rates of virus transmission according to a spokesperson.

Restaurants and bars in the state are required to enforce the wearing of masks for customers and employees, have  distances of at minimum six feet between tables or parties and enforce maximum indoor and outdoor occupancy restrictions.

Our officers continue to ensure licensed liquor establishments are taking the necessary steps to keep their customers and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Fisher.

State Police said businesses are first warned for possible violations and given ample time to correct any  issue before a citation is issued.

A total of, 77 businesses were given warnings for violating COVID-19 mitigation efforts. No businesses were given a “notice of violation” state authorities said.

Inspections are unannounced and can happen anywhere within Pennsylvania, state police officials said.

Philadelphia had four businesses warned state officials said on in their release Monday.

Harrisburg based businesses earned the most warnings with 24, followed by Pittsburgh with 18, according to state data released today.
