Yardley Borough Hires New Police Officer

The Yardley Borough Council approved the hiring of a part-time police officer at last weeks meeting.

Joseph Martin from Philadelphia, was approved to the be the latest addition to the Borough police department.

Martin is a full time teacher at a private school in Flourtown, PA, Chief of Police of Joseph Kelly said.

The newly appointed officer was sworn in by Mayor Chris Harding last  Tuesday following Council’s approval to hire.  Ofc. Martin’s daughter assisted with the administration of the oath and his wife pinned on his shield.

Martin is a graduate of LaSalle University and holds a masters degree from  Marygrove College (M.A.) and the Philadelphia Police Academy (2017). Martin is a full-time teacher who has previously worked as a police officer in the City of Philadelphia.

“We feel Officer Martin’s diverse experience and skill sets will be an asset to the Borough and the people we serve,” Kelly said.
