A Philadelphia man, unable to post 10% of his $150,000 bail. was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF) after he was arraigned on felony attempted robbery and theft of a motor vehicle charges last week.
Lower Southampton Police said they responded in emergency mode last Wednesday at approximately 4:58 p.m., to the Sunoco located at 300 E Street Road, Feasterville for the report of a robbery in progress.
Investigating officers spoke with the victim who said she was filling up her vehicle at the Sunoco gas station when a male drove up in a red pick-up truck, exited the truck and entered the driver side door of her vehicle, closing the door as he sat in the driver seat and attempted to take her vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The victim then stated that she opened the driver side door at which time the suspect exited the vehicle and confronted her. During this encounter, he placed his hands forcibly on her shoulders and demanded the victim to give him her car keys. Since he was unsuccessful in taking the vehicle, he re-entered the red Ford pick-up truck and fled the area.
The victim was complaining of right shoulder pain following the incident, said police.

During this investigation, the Bucks County Communications Center received calls of an erratic driver operating a red Ford pick-up truck traveling along Bridgetown Pike. Lower Southampton Township Officers were checking the area for the vehicle and located it traveling along Bridgetown Pike south bound. The vehicle, a red Ford pick-up-truck, was stopped at the Elmwood Ave intersection. While attempting to take the suspect into custody, he did not comply with direct commands, resisted arrest and ran off before he was apprehended by the officers. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the apprehension of the suspect, the affidavit alleges.
Following his arrest, he was found to be under the influence of narcotics and in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. The male was identified via his Pennsylvania Driver’s License as Charles P. Casler, 40, of Philadelphia. He was positively identified by the victim, police said.
Further charges may be added as it was later learned that the red Ford pick-up-truck was reported stolen, entered by the Philadelphia Police Department, said police.
