A Tullytown man was jailed for something that could very well upset the universal karma for his future as he was charged for breaking into St. Michael the Archangel Church in Levittown last week.
On Nov 1, Tullytown Borough Police were dispatched to “St Mikes Church”, located at 66 Levittown Pkwy, for a report of a burglary alarm that was set off inside the church. Responding police checked all exterior doors of the property and located an unlocked door which led to the cafeteria area. Police entered the building, searched the area with finding no one inside. The keyholder, who is the Church Reverend, was on-site and walked police through the building to see if any items were missing. While walking through the cafeteria. the keyholder informed police that the area did not have an alarm system. The Reverend told police the alarm system was only in the main church. Police were then escorted to the main church. The Reverend informed them that he locked the doors to the main church at approximately 8:30 p.m. and there shouldn’t be anyone on the premises, according to police.
The responding officer entered the church observed a black hat on the entry way table and a coat closet door to be half open. Police opened the closet door and observed Anthony Ramirez laying on the floor hiding underneath the robes. Ramirez complied with police commands and was taken into custody. He told police, he had been inside the church since the last service at 8:30 p.m. Ramirez remained in the building without permission and was not licensed or privileged to do so, said police in court paperwork.
Although the church is open to the public, the building was locked at the time of the last service, no one was permitted into the building after the last service had ended, police said, also noting no damages were found to the property, in court papers.
Ramirez was charged with two felony burglary related offenses, was unable to post the 10 percent of $15,000 bail set by District Judge Terrence Hughes and was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to be back in court on Nov 12 for a hearing.
