Trevose Road over the Poquessing Creek in nearby Lower Southampton Township will be closed for a month-long construction project starting mid-June, PennDOT announced.
Beginning on Monday, June 22, through Monday, July 20, Trevose Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Route 132 (Street Road) and Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) for bridge repairs. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 132 (Street Road), Philmont Avenue, and Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue).
Local access will be maintained at all times. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or through the detour route because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The current bridge is 45 feet long, 49 feet wide, and carries more than 8,000 vehicles per day.
Under this project, a Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) overlay will be applied to the existing 56-year-old single span bridge. Deck joints will be resealed or replaced, substructure cracks will be repaired, and concrete repairs to the underside of the bridge deck will take place.
Spall repairs will be made to the barrier and the missing metal bridge railing on top of the concrete barrier will be replaced in-kind. Overgrown vegetation will be cleared from the approaches and rock protection will be placed at the east abutment wingwalls to mitigate erosion.
The bridge repair is part of a $16.2 million project to rehabilitate more than 15 bridges in Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of King of Prussia, PA. is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
