Nearby: Trevose Robbery Suspect Heads to Trial

A Philadelphia man is heading to trial on robbery and related charges after his preliminary hearing was held this month.

Magisterial District Judge Daniel Baranoski ruled on October 16 there was enough evidence to sustain the charges against Charles P. Casler III.

He was arrested after   Sunoco located at 300 E Street Road, Feasterville for the report of a robbery in progress.

The victim told police a male drove up in a red pick-up truck, exited the truck and entered the driver side door of her vehicle, closing the door as he sat in the driver seat and attempted to take her vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The victim then stated that she opened the driver side door at which time the suspect exited the vehicle and confronted her.  During this encounter, he placed his hands forcibly on her shoulders and demanded the victim to give him her car keys.  Since he was unsuccessful in taking the vehicle, he re-entered the red Ford pick-up truck and fled.

Lower Southampton Township officers were checking the area for the vehicle and located it traveling along Bridgetown Pike south bound.  The vehicle, a red Ford pick-up-truck, was stopped at the Elmwood Ave intersection. While attempting to take the suspect into custody, he did not comply with direct commands, resisted arrest and ran off before he was apprehended by the officers. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the apprehension of Casler.

Eight of the original charges  10 were held over by Baranoski as he dismissed a felony receiving stolen property and a lesser misdemeanor offense.

Casler is scheduled to be arraigned at the  Court of Common Pleas on November 15 according to court records.
