Bensalem Man Grapples with Officers, Charged for Allegedly Stealing 23 Items from Tullytown Walmart, Resisting Arrest

A Bensalem man apparently was under the mistaken impression Walmart at the Levittown Towne Center in Tullytown was having a “its for free sale” battling with police officers and now faces resisting arrest, retail theft, and receiving stolen property charges.

The scene played out, according to police,  Thursday September 25, at approximately 5 p.m. when, police were dispatched to the Walmart ( 180 Levittown Center) for a retail theft in progress report.

Loss prevention advised police of a white male in a black T-shirt, black pants, approximately 60 years old, walking through the parking lot of Walmart towards the Wells Fargo pushing a cart full of allegedly unpaid merchandise. Police made contact with Anatoly Pogoretsky of Bensalem, a press release says.

Officers on scene attempted to have Pogoretsky walk back into the Walmart, but he refused and started to walk away from police. authorities said in a press release.

Police then attempted to detain Pogoretsky in handcuffs when he began to physically resist officers, police said.

After a short struggle on the ground Pogoretsky  handcuffed and taken into custody by Police and an off-duty Police Officer.

Further investigation revealed that Pogoretsky allegedly concealed 23 unpaid items in his cart totaling $143.25 USD. The Bensalem  was subsequently arrested for retail theft, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest, authorities said.
