State founder William Penn’s Historic home in Falls Township is getting $50,000 in state funding to establish a public Wi-Fi network.

Democrats state Rep. Jim Prokopiak and State Sen. Steve Santarsiero presented a check and toured the museum at the historic site, Wednesday afternoon.

The Pennsbury Society will use the funding to establish a public Wi-Fi network, giving visitors greater access to educational information about William and Hannah Penn, the Manor House, and the site’s history.

“We stopped by the historic site yesterday afternoon to present the grant and tour the museum, learning more about the incredible work being done to preserve Pennsbury’s history,” Prokopiak said.

Pennsbury Manor is a reconstruction of William Penn’s country estate set on 43 picturesque acres along the Delaware River in Morrisville, PA. As the only site in the nation dedicated to preserving the historical significance of  Penn, Pennsbury Manor is here to bring the past into the present by telling the stories of the colonists, servants, enslaved people, and Native Americans who lived on this land.

“I’m proud to support Pennsbury Manor as they preserve our past while finding new and innovative ways to connect that history with the next generation,” Prokopiak added.

Penn lived there from 1699 to 1701 before returning to England, where he died in 1718.
