BUCKS COUNTY, USA is a five-part docuseries filmed over four years that looks beyond politics to offer an impartial human perspective on a deeply divided purple county community in the country’s largest swing state.
Directed by Barry Levinson and Robert May, the docuseries is scheduled for a September release on PBS, coinciding with the return to school and midterm elections that define the autumn zeitgeist.

The series centers on Evi and Vanessa, two best friends caught in the middle of America’s culture wars, and asks whether a community – and a country – can follow their example and find an alternative path.
Through their friendship, the series will explore the way political divides play out in their community impacting families and relationships beyond heated school board meetings.
The episode descriptions are as follows: 1) “The Outbreak” which is the jump off point for the series begins with COVID fury igniting a school board war. 2) “The Petri Dish” focusing on the battle over COVID policies. 3) “Duck Soup” the battle for control of the school board and attempted book banning policies 4) “Peace Valley” As the school board elections reach a crescendo, the conflict gets personal. 5) “What Will Your Story Be” which focuses on election results and the impacts of the political division on the children of the area.
Bucks County, USA attempts to “look beyond politics to offer an impartial, human perspective,” the filmmakers said.
The program will also be available for streaming online, PBS said and premieres September 20 on PBS.org, the PBS app, & local public television stations.
