Bucks County Technical High School (BCTHS) has been awarded $1 million in state funding through Pennsylvania’s Local Share Account (LSA) program to support the construction of a new field house and gymnasium.

The Local Share Grant grant was announced by state Senator Steve Santarsiero and state Representatives Tina Davis and Jim Prokopiak, all Bucks County Democrats.

The new facilities will provide modern space for health and physical education, support extracurricular activities, and community events. BCTHS will repurpose its existing, undersized gymnasium to expand academic and technical programs. The project reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to student wellness, teamwork, and preparing students for successful careers, according to joint release from the state law makers.

“This project is about meeting the growing demand for Career and Technical Education while supporting the whole student,” said Mark Holtzman, Assistant Director of BCTHS. “We are extremely grateful to Senator Santarsiero and Representatives Davis and Prokopiak for their support. These new facilities will expand opportunities for students to succeed.”

Grant funding is critical to making this project a reality, and the LSA award represents an important step in providing expanded facilities for students and families throughout Lower Bucks County, BCTHS officials said.

The Local Share Account program plays a vital role in strengthening communities across Pennsylvania by funding infrastructure, educational, and public-interest projects. This award underscores the importance of continued investment in Career and Technical Education and student-focused facilities.

Additional project details and timelines will be shared as planning progresses, Holtzman said.
