School Bus Safety Tips For the New School Year

Falls Township Police are sharing essential school bus safety tips as students head back to school.

• Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes early to avoid rushing.
• When waiting for the bus, stay away from traffic. Line up at least 5 giant steps from the curb or road.
• Never run after the school bus if it has already left the bus stop.
• Walk at least 10 feet in front of the bus when crossing so the bus driver can see you.
• Wait until the school bus stops all traffic before stepping out onto the road.
• Never cross the street behind a school bus.
• If you forget something, don’t go back. The driver may not see you and start to pull away.
