Last week students from Harry S. Truman High School in Bristol Township were celebrated for earning academic honors nationally.
This week it was announced 26 juniors and seniors were inducted into the Truman chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS), inductees participated in a candle-lighting ceremony held in the high school’s Lou Volpe Auditorium, on October 14, and recited the NHS pledge to be sworn in.
Principal Jon Craig and Elizabeth Gregory, teacher and faculty advisor, spoke to students and parents, and several new members shared about the four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Founded in 1921, NHS recognizes student achievement and excellence and serves more than one million students across all 50 states.
NHS officers for 2026-27 also helped to plan and execute the ceremony. They include President Cory Pressley, Vice President Matthew Emrich, Treasurer Joseph O’Neill, and Secretary Nicolina Harkins.
For the first time, Truman’s NHS chapter has plans to work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Ronald McDonald House this school year. Students will continue their cultural pen pal exchange with their partner high school in Chiayi City, Taiwan, as well as create holiday ornaments for troops.
