PennDOT announced roadway and bridge construction are planned next week on U.S. 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in 1 Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, September 21, through Friday, September 26, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
- Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for sign installation.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
