The Sunshine Foundation hosted its 23rd Annual RunWalkBark4Dreams 5K officially timed run and 2-mile walk on Saturday, May 17th at Tyler State Park.

Participants of the 23rd Annual RunWalkBark4Dreams helped make Olivia’s dream come true! Olivia, with Level 3 Severe Autism, dreams of visiting Disney World and EPCOT to meet Ariel and Snow White.

“Olivia has high energy and loves being outside. She gets great enjoyment at amusement parks and water parks.”  said Olivia’s mom.

Olivia was presented with her Magical Dream Come True by former dream child, Kyle Foster, with cerebral palsy, who had his Magical Dream to visit Universal Studios and Disney World answered in 2014. Olivia was also surprised to celebrate her 8th Birthday at the event.

Kate Sample, Sunshine Foundation President said “So grateful to each and every supporter who helped us reach our goal of sending this precious girl, Olivia, to meet Ariel at Disney World! Thank You to our amazingly generous volunteers: including committee chairperson, Mike Minko, with Mike K., Jacquie, Sherry, Rosemary, Stacy, Kenny, and Nahira who make it all happen to bring in funding to make dreams come true! I am still taken that it was Henry (#5990), the nephew of Sunshine Foundation’s first dream recipient, Bobby, who won the race! We are so grateful to Bobby Kichula’s family for continuing to support Sunshine in the 49th year of our existence. Speaks a lot to what that dream meant to their family all those years ago. Thank you all for carrying on this amazing unique journey that Bill Sample created. So very grateful to each of you!”

This annual event is a great opportunity for corporate groups and organizations to walk or run as a team building activity that supports children with chronic illnesses and conditions in their community.

Sunshine Foundation answers dreams to children with severe lifelong chronic illnesses and conditions from income-limited families. Conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Level 3 severe autism, Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness, trauma from abuse, and others.

To make these dreams a reality for children that may be turned away from other wish-granting organizations that require a life-threatening or critical diagnosis, Sunshine Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations.

Sunshine Foundation also answers Special Dreams: shopping sprees, computers and iPads, outdoor playsets, above ground swimming pools, family trips, cruises, adaptive tricycles and other special needs equipment, plus many more.
