Bensalem Township Council voted to approve construction on 1186 Byberry Road despite locals desire to maintain open space and privacy

The decision came at Monday nights township council meeting on Dec. 8, and was originally meant to be voted on in at November council meeting before being tabled due to a follow up letter not being received by the fire marshal, officials said.

Mike McGuinness on behalf of the developer,Bristol based Mar Mar Homes presented the final layout plan to the council, with it being a cul-de-sac that has a water lot to the north.

Hedges have been added to the plans in order to separate and provide privacy to the other surrounding properties

Te plans call for eight single-family homes on the now-vacant 3.5-acre lot in a heavily wooded area that are expected to cost more than $900,000 to be constructed on the lot

Public comments about the decision mostly dealt with concern of privacy for the other neighboring houses, with two residents asking for hedges to be added to all along the line, or a fence to be built.

McGuinness said Mar Mar will look at what’s possible to separate backyards of the homes on the lot from the other homes in the area, with the possibility of a fence if not hedges to facilitate a level of privacy.

The township and developer agreed to keep as many trees in the area as possible, officials said.

The motion was approved unanimously by council.
