Bucks Co. Still Considered an area of ‘High’ COVID-19 ‘Transmission’ as Case and Vaccine Rates Trend Upward

Vaccination rates and new cases of COVID-19 trended upward last week however Bucks County is still considered an area of “high transmission,” by federal health officials.

The county’s seven-day average as of Sunday was 152 new cases per day, the highest average since the end of August. The previous week’s seven-day average was 133 new cases per day, county officials said in a Monday press release.

Between Sept. 20 and Sept. 24, at least 89 children aged 0-12 tested positive for COVID, while 77 cases were among those aged 12-18, according to the Bucks County Health Department.

There were at least 61 patients being treated with COVID-19 in Bucks County hospitals as of Monday. Eleven adults were in the intensive care unit and two were on ventilators.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Bucks County on Monday was still an area of “high” COVID transmission.

Vaccination numbers continue to climb, with 4,162 more residents receiving at least one jab last week. Nearly 332,498 county residents were fully vaccinated as of Monday, or 60 percent of the eligible population (12 and up). About 68 percent of Bucks County’s eligible population (12 and up) was partially vaccinated, said county officials.
